The Doris Duke Foundation wanted to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Doris Duke Artist Awards—the nation’s largest unrestricted grant specifically for individual performing artists. In anticipation of their landmark anniversary event at New York’s Jazz at Lincoln Center, None Other developed a video that spoke to this decade of achievements in arts funding and the foundation’s hope for the future.
Collaborting with None Other, I created the typography design for this video. None Other conducted audio interviews with seven performing artists and captured still photography with them in their homes and studios. In the edit, they layered their audio narration with sequences of photography in motion. None Other took this non-traditional approach in order to include the widest range of artist voices and locations possible within scope, ultimately delivering the final film with cutdowns and a library of portraits.
